Steve also employs a unique multiple off-camera lighting system which produces "lighting like the movies." It is sometimes called "cinematic" or "three point." These are not hot lights but are strobes digitally triggered from the camera-completely wireless! There are incredible advantages to this set-up: very easy and fast to put in place, produces a very dynamic and dimensional look to the images as opposed to using just one flash on the camera, allows a large group to be lit without light fall-off towards the back of the group, and increases detail on clothing, especially wedding dresses. The next time you watch a movie, notice how the subjects are lit. Very rarely will they be lit with flat, frontal lighting. They are almost always lit with lights from the side, top and behind increasing punch and drama.
